Pastor E. A. Adeboye at RCCG Special Sunday Service, Going Higher (Part 14)
1 Kings 17:8-16
We want to look at the widow of Zarephath part 2. This session is full of so much lessons. For instance, we found out here that God has sense of humour because He told Elijah to go to a widow who will sustain him and the widow had just one meal left, who will sustain who?You will know that you are rising when you begin to help others. You will know you are on your way up when instead of being blessed you become a blessing.
When you get to the stage you become a blessing you will know you are higher than some people. A child’s sign of growth is seen from when the child is been carried to when the child starts to carry his siblings. It doesn’t matter how long you have been in the Church, if you are not helping others you are not rising.
1 Peters 2:2
You have been in the Church all these years and you are not a worker, you need to ask yourself some questions. The sign that you are rising is that you have become a help to somebody else.
Promotion comes with responsibilities.
The word minister is a Latin word for servant, house help but now they have put glamour to it. When you hear minister of God, you are there to be servant to the people.
Anointing is for service, thank God you are a great man of God, you are to minister. Acts 6:1-6, deacons are waiters, people who serve the table but the people must be full of the Holy Spirit.
In Acts 8:5-8, Philip went to Samaria to help. You are rising when you become a help to the needy because the moment you prove yourself to be a good servant, God will continue to promote you. In Acts 8:26-40, a deacon became a Continental Evangelist
Acts 21:8. How did Philip get there? He served. You want to be promoted? How do you get there? You have to be ready to serve.
Elisha was a successful farmer, his father’s farm was very large that he needed 12 tractors to work on them, he was one the 12. Elisha was busy in the field, when Elijah threw his mantle upon him, he became a servant to Elijah.
2 Kings 3-11-12
Elisha forgot his roots and became a servant and promotion came by the time we get to 2 Kings 2:9-15, he who started as one of the Sons of the Prophet became a prophet, a father to other prophets because he learnt to serve. From just being promoted to becoming the father of the Prophets he became a servant to nations. 2 Kings 2:19-22
When you begin to rise you will begin to serve.
There are some of us listening to me who are elders, you know the way you were brought up. You must learn to serve if you want to rise.
Consider the Apostles in John 6:5-13, when the Lord blessed the food, He handed them over to the Apostles to go and distribute. If you read this passage, you will see that the Apostles ate last. To lead is to serve.
Consider Apostle Paul in Acts 28:1-10, in the Island of Melita, it was Apostle Paul who went to get firewood to make the fire bigger and in the process a serpent came and fastened his hand but the poison had no effect on him. If you are serving, you get special protection from God. If you cannot do manual labour with your hands, you cannot heal. The hands that are too important to work if they lay those hands on you, they might just take off your hair, anointing will not flow.
There is something very interesting in this story of Elijah and the widow. The food kept on multiplying, Elijah did not know that he could perform that miracle, he didn’t believe that he had it in him. He was relying on Deuteronomy 28:15,23,24
There are many of you listening to me who do not know that you are fully loaded, I want to encourage you that there is something in you that can do mighty things and I am praying that in the Name that is above every other name, you will begin to do those mighty things from today because for everyone there is always a first time to perform a miracle.
Exodus 14:1-28, was the first time anybody divided the Red Sea, Moses didn’t know that he had it in him. Many times it is a crisis that will pull out of you something that is there, a power that will jump into action when you come face to face with a crisis.
Judges 14:5-6 (the story of Samson and a lion) if you are a true child of God, you are not empty.
1 John 4:4
There is something in you much bigger than you know and the world is waiting to see you release this power to them, in the Name that is above every other name, that manifestation of the children of God that God has been expecting will begin with you today.
Those of you who have not even given your life to Jesus Christ you don’t even know what you are missing because if you give your life to Jesus Christ He will come and dwell in you and when God is dwelling in you then greater is He that is in you than He that is in the World. If you will love the situation where you can begin to exercise the power of the Almighty God, first step is to surrender to the Almighty God. Wherever you are, bow your head in prayer and cry unto Him. Ask Him to take over your life. Those of you who have been saved please pray for these new converts and ask God that from today onward, the evidence that I am already growing let it begin to manifest and the Almighty God will answer your prayers.
God Bless You!
