Take your time and read through….

2 SAMUEL 18 VS. 15-33 There was a man who was swift and stupid his name was AHIMAAZ. I call him “the young man who ran without a message”. He was the son of the priest Zadok, and was a swift runner.

In the days following the palace coup by Absalom, King David’s son, in which he forced his father out of power, Ahimaaz and his brother Jonathan were instrumental to running secret errands for King David. Hence, the king was always on the lookout for them from where he was hiding and they would always bring him necessary reports.

However, on that fateful day, when Absalom was killed by General Joab, Ahimaaz (who ran to the scene after the war had ended) volunteered to run and tell the king that the war had ended. To him, he had a good news to share with the king. However, Joab refused him, saying, “not today, maybe another day you can take the news. Today is a sad day because of the king’s son who is dead.

Hence, Joab summoned another young man (Cushi) and gave him a message to give the king, and the young man set out with the message. However, Ahimaaz still came to Joab and said, “Please let me run, and Joab answered him, “why will you run my son seeing you have no message to share?”
Do you know what this young man said?
“Whatever happens, let me run.”
And so Joab said, “RUN.”

This is the challenge of our generation today. Ahimaaz was willing to run even though he had no message. “WHATEVER HAPPENS, LET ME RUN.” Today, we see that many of us young ones are willing to run, whether we have a message or not. In these days when being a well-known preacher seems to be a good way of publicity and financial well-being, we are willing to exercise energy and expend ourselves in that direction, whether we have a message or not.

We are a generation in search of relevance, and for all it is worth, we do not want any form of obscurity. Hence, whatever it will take to get relevance in society, we will do it. This has led to much shallowness in all that we do.
The same for ministers and preachers. Even bloggers like us on social media. Most times, it is simply about ‘relevance’. We do not want to be sidelined in life’s scheme of things.

Hence, whether we have a message or not, we must write; we must say something, to remain relevant and draw traffic. That is sheer stupidity.
Ahimaaz (the one without a message) so ran that he outran Cushi (the man with a message), and even got to the King first. However, his message to the king did not carry any substance that could compel the king to a response. He could not answer the king’s deepest questions. When he finished speaking, the king simply said, “STAND ASIDE”.

Cushi arrived later than Ahimaaz, but because he was the one with the message, his speech compelled the king to an action, and moved him to tears, because he actually bore the real message that the king wanted to hear. He answered the king’s deepest questions.
As young people, our blood is hot, and we really want to run. This pressure is so great in a generation like ours where achieving great things when you are young is much taunted. Everywhere you hear people speak to young ones, they roll out the names of young people like them who achieved this or that before they were twenty (20).

However, if we truly understand life, we will note that it is not how fast, but how well. How loaded were you before you got on the racing track?
NO MATTER HOW CROWDED THE STAGE OF PUBLIC-SPEAKING OR PREACHING APPEARS, THE WORLD WILL STILL WAIT FOR A MAN WITH “THE MESSAGE”, AND IT IS ONLY SUCH A MAN THAT WILL MOVE THEM TO ACTION.

So, do not be in a hurry, there is actually time. Spend time knowing God….
Spend time developing yourself..
Spend time dealing with the sinfulness in your life (and there are many if you sit under God’s searchlight).

Spend time being faithful with the little place God has kept you.
Do not waste your lowly seasons.
If you eat well and stay loaded, one day, the commander will ask you to run, and no matter how slow you are, the world will be glad to listen to you, and will be happy you came on stage.
