C.A.N declares three-day prayers for 'God to speak to Leaders'

President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Rev. Samson Ayokunle, has written to all church leaders in the five blocks of the association, asking them to pray for Nigeria on May 13, 14 and 15.

In a statement, yesterday, CAN General Secretary, Daramola Joseph Bade, said the church needs to ask God to show mercy on Nigeria and divinely intervene in its economy, politics and security matters so that the nation would not collapse.

He said: “The church needs to pray that God would speak to our leaders, to take the right steps in addressing the dangerous situations into which we have put ourselves and that God would continue to be with the electoral umpire, to stand firm without an iota of partiality in making sure that elections are free and fair.”
Supplicants will also seek that “God should judge anyone outright, who, out of selfishness, is planning to create chaos in the forthcoming elections, no matter how highly placed; that the electorate would come out and vote the right people into power.

“That God would give the military the upper hand in subduing terrorists and other violent people causing mayhem in our nation; that He would divinely fight for Nigeria against these evil people and their financiers; that our generation would experience a new Nigeria where there are equity, justice and peace, irrespective of ethnic group, religion or political affiliation.”
