The new testament economy and the use of scriptures to back up the use of Girdle will be great wickedness and disservice to the Spirit of Scripture. The levitical order is done away with by the salvific works of Christ; the experiences or instructions of God to men in the old covenant is peculiar to them and shouldn’t be copied literally as it were for operation in the new because of dispensational differences and contexts.
Going straight to the point, Use of Girdle cannot be backed up by any injunction of scripture for the new testament believer and imposed as a must for all churches to follow suit. Do well to read to through
The word Girdle/Belt is a noun from the Word Gird- meaning to fasten one’s belt. It’s an action to be done.
The word Gird in the Greek is ‘Perizonnumi’ which is metaphorically with Truth as a girdle. The word Gird means to equip oneself with the knowledge of the Truth.
Apostle Paul teaching the Ephesians about Spiritual warfare employed the use of military register in explaining our weapons of warfare.
Do not forget that the context of Ephesians 6:10- end is Spiritual, hence he used physical armoury, weapons/arsenals to bring to light spiritual realities. The Ephesians understands the language of physical weapons of war. With this it will be error to fight with a literal girdle, sword, helmet, breastplate against a spiritual enemy.
Girdle is not literal in this context but references the truth of God’s word captured by revelation knowledge.
Hence using the verses that used the word ‘Gird’ to justify the use of Girdle in the Fold and generalizing it for all is wrong and against the revelation position of Scripture. If it’s true then we all must use literal helmet, breastplate, sword, boots in the church, we can’t lift a verse to suit our position neglecting other mentioned metaphors used in this context.
Having said this, what’s the point of balance and acceptability of the use of Girdle in the C&S Fold ?
The constitution of the church and the diversity of God’s operation is the only justifiable reference to such use. The C&S Fold has it’s ethics and code of conduct that governs it’s operation, one which the use of garment, girdle etc which is the accepted uniform for members. This ground is one basis of agreement as touching the usage of Girdle.
Secondly the diversity of God’s operation is another reality and basis of acceptance. With or without Girdle God can be factored or finds expression amidst the Fold so long that the gathering is founded upon the revelation of Christ as the Son of the Living God, Matthew 16:16-20. Fastening girdle/Belt to our loins or not doesn’t impede the flow of God in and through the believer because he embodies God and mobilizes his possibilities via his vessel. It doesn’t stop the flow in our services too.
There’s no denominational dress-code in scripture but modesty and decency is the springboard of all that should be adopted as uniform or codes of dressing.
However, a matured believer must be flexible and malleable in obeying constituted authority and ethics even if we seldom disagree with the revelations backing some injunctions(doctrinal differences) for the sake of winning men to Christ.
1 Corinthians 9:19-23
King James Version
19 For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more.
20 And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law;
21 To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law.
22 To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.
23 And this I do for the gospel’s sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you.
The reason a mature believer is enjoined to flow irrespective of doctrinal differences is because of brethren with ill understanding who can delve into error without understanding why a position is upheld; if the constituted authority of your church is flexible and sees you not as rebel when you don’t put on girdle you’re free, but if they are hostile against such just with love and brethren sake follow suit because what’s the essence of light that causes men to stumble. If it’s instructed as a code, then obey it as unto the Lord.
The use of Girdle is largely dependent of what’s acceptable in every local assembly of the Fold you attend because God has regard for constituted authority. Also, there are some sect of the Fold who use their girdle as sash(Ikoda) it’s not on their loins. It can’t be generalized but depends on what’s acceptable in local assemblies.
Your brother,
Adeniji Olabode Moses.
It is purely a misunderstanding of the Scripture for one to pick out an aspect of a people’s doctrine to criticize. The Critique on the use of girdles in the C&S by a member of the Church only shows disrespect to constitutional Authority.

The death of Our LORD JESUS CHRIST on Golgatha was never meant to abolish the old testament but rather to help man overcome the law of sin and death and also fulfil the whole law even as HE, our LORD JESUS CHRIST also did.
Therefore the written article about the use of the girdle not mentioned in the new testament alone disregards and excludes the whole of the old testament, not to mention the gown dressing of all and any of GOD’s servants and priests including Father Aaron (the high priest) himself.
I pray that the HOLY SPIRIT in all of HER great compassion furthermore enlightens everyone with regards to this and all other spiritual items used in and for the worship of the GOD of Israel. Thank you.
