THE GIFT OF DIVERSE TONGUES AND INTERPRETATION OF TONGUES

To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:

THE NATURE OF TONGUES
1 Corinthians 14:2 (KJV)
For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.
The is no simple level of tongues like prophecy which has basic level, speaking in tongues is at the level of mystery.

1 Corinthians 14:4 (KJV)
He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.
Spiritual gifts as a whole is for edification, so if the gift is been used with the edification being the end result, it is not right. So the gift of diverse tongues is for edification.
1 Corinthians 14:21-22 (KJV)
In the law it is written, With men of other tongues and other lips will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord. Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe.

Tongues are a sign to the unbeliever, it is a sign that something supernatural is happening our midst.
Prophecy is a sign for believers, while Tongues is a sign for unbelievers.
Acts 2:6 (KJV)
Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.

The gift of diverse tongues can be in human language, it can be in angelic language and it can also be in an unknown language.
1 Corinthians 14:8-11 (KJV)
For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle? So likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye shall speak into the air. There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification.

Therefore if I know not the meaning of the voice, I shall be unto him that speaketh a barbarian, and he that speaketh shall be a barbarian unto me.
Every voice we hear can be interpreted, and the tongues may not even be somebody’s utterance it could be an instrument. Like I was in a meeting one time, and I was able to interpret what the trumpeter was playing.

And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans? And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?

Acts 2:11-12 (KJV)
Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God. And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?
Now after they heard them speaking in their native language, they still ask what it meant, even the understood what the disciples was saying, because it was their native tongue. They ask what it meant because in the Nation of Israel every new thing that happens is a seen as a fulfillment of prophecy, so where asking what prophecy is this fulfilling because it is a mystery to them.

A mystery something that happens that you have not heard about or that have never happened, it is something that happens that eyes have not seen, that ears has not heart, and which has not entered into the hearts of men.
Now, it is very possible for you to operate in multiple spiritual gifts, and it is even expected of you to have operated in all the nine gifts during your lifetime.

Now we would be switching to the POWER GIFTS.
Power is not for us to display, but fulfill our purpose in Christ and that is to witness. So God does not do show business with power, like we see today, that is the work of the devil, he love to exhibit power, for attraction and intimidation, like you see in ritualist, cultist and all sought of diabolic groups.

And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
The one sending us to the world is Jesus Himself and the measure of power at his disposal is ‘All Power’ so there limit to what he can through us, but it is according to the measure of power that worketh in us.

So if you just remain as a normal believer, the power of Jesus towards is limited to the power that worketh in you at that level. But as you begin to grow and expand in more offices in the spirit, more power is allotted to your disposal.

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

The platform for power is the platform of a witness, you have to be desperately willing to validate and prove everything that everything that Jesus says is authentic.
Being a witness in this context is same as that in a court room, if you a witness, they your life must be a validation that Jesus is alive.
And there is no how you can be a witness without power, you see the devil has power to display but God doesn’t, every power of God is locked in purpose and that is prove that Jesus is alive, when you see a cultist doing what they do, they are saying they are the God here, when you see group of people walking naked, they are saying God doesn’t exist, so your desire for power is not to show but the proof that Jesus is alive.

So if you start praying for power with the right motive for power, God will give you power. Witnessing without power makes you a talkative.
We are a Witness against Wickedness. I want to us to understand the need for power before we ask, so that we would have Good reason to ask for Power.

PRAYER
Can we begin to ask the LORD for power, we are in generation when the kingdom of darkness has sworn that we see the bitterness of the altar of the devil, so witnesses but rise up.

It time for be the witness against wickedness in your Generation, a witness against darkness in your family, a witness through which a generation views Jesus, can we pray!
Now pray for our families, anything that brought into that family, that is responsible for the trends of darkness, deaths, hindrances, waywardness, can we ask the hand of God might be stretched over that family and vandalized anything that is not of His.
