In every generation where we have unfaithful men in ministry, there will be extra work, extra burdens and extra assignments for faithful ministers.
Truth is that the “burden” of the faithful is more assignment. Whoever is effective and efficient in his primary assignment in ministry is pruned the more by the Lord for greater productivity – Jn.15:2.
There are ministers today who are carrying “extra loads and burdens”, not in the negative sense and those extra loads and burdens are not without the supply of Grace for them.
For every assignment that you reject in the Kingdom, God transfers it to someone else.
For every instruction that you discountenance which has effect on the overall plan and purpose of God for the Church, God gives it to somebody else.
In the economy of the call, no man or woman can hold God to ransom.
The system is designed in such a way that THE CALL IS TRANSFERABLE AND THE CALLED IS REPLACEABLE. Ask Judas Iscariot!!!
When people hear statements of this nature, they’re quick to quote Romans 11:29.
For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.
But reading this scripture in context, it’s simply talking about the constancy of the loving kindness and mercy of the Lord even as God used the stubbornness of the Jews to pave way for the salvation of the Gentiles, yet in the spirit and letter of that scripture, Israel will still be saved.
Simple as ABC!!! It’s not saying that any mortal man or woman can hold God to ransom on account of disobedience to the call or rejection of a divine assignment.
Having said that, it behooves us to realize that there are ministers today who are carrying out instructions that some other ministers earlier disobeyed.
For instance, the Holy Spirit can lay a prayer burden on somebody’s heart just because there’s something urgent that God wants to do in that season but the fellow due to laziness turns it off.
God then finds somebody else who has been executing his own personal instructions from the Lord and adds to it – that’s what is called the “burden” of the faithful.
God can tell a man of God that He wants him to plant a Pentecostal church in a town or a village that has no semblance of it but the man of God is dragging his feet.
Then after a while, another minister receives that instruction, executes it and he becomes a trailblazer.
You remember the parable of the talents? See what the Master said about the guy with one talent:
Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.
There’s no sentiment here! The talent was collected from him and given as “extra” to someone else who had been faithful with the use of his own talents.
You also remember what the Apostle Paul said about Timothy?
19 But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timotheus shortly unto you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your state.
20 For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state.
21 For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ’s.
22 But ye know the proof of him, that, as a son with the father, he hath served with me in the gospel.
23 Him therefore I hope to send presently, so soon as I shall see how it will go with me.
In other words, Paul considered giving this assignment to others but none was found faithful. Therefore Timothy who had been faithful with his own work had it as an “extra”.
Sometimes it happens in ministry or in any other sphere of life; the person who is faithfully adding value to himself and measuring up seems to do extra work because the leader does not want to compromise quality.
Now I perfectly understand the place of giving other people room to grow so as to avoid monopoly of roles. Now that’s perfect and that is a good model that should be adopted by every minister.
But in the context of this piece, we’re looking at people who have refused to measure up and who haven’t come to grips with the claims of the call over their lives.
Nobody should be like a liability to the move of God on the earth.
Anytime a minister becomes a liability, he adds extra work to the work of other ministers.
There are ministers that God has told in the past, “This assignment I gave you to do. I asked somebody else to do it in the past but he disobeyed. Put in your best into it, for My Grace is sufficient for you”.
There are biological children in ministry today who are doing “a part” of what the Lord told their parents to do and there are others who are taking the work further.
There are music ministers who paid the price to press in the Holy Ghost to receive songs plus the ones that some others by laziness failed to receive.
There are people that God laid a book title in their hearts but they didn’t pay the price to fully capture what the Lord was saying to follow it up.
The next time they walked into a bookstore, they stumbled on the same title, same message that somebody else has already published.
There are people that God laid a message on their hearts to put online but they didn’t follow it up.
And they come online to see that somebody else has painstakingly put the exact message up and it has gone viral.
There are people who stopped writing posts because of the number of likes and they stopped the flow of inspiration.
Friend, it’s part of the whole package. Sometimes you can take like 4 hours to put up a post and at the end of the day, you have 5 likes, 1 comment and 1 share (which is by you).
What do you do? Just keep moving and keep obeying the Lord. The greatest mistake you can make online is to write posts because of likes – it shows you’re not yet “free”!
What difference does it make if nobody likes your post? You see, sometimes your largest audience online is “invisible”.
They don’t like; they don’t comment and they don’t share but they’re following your work day in and out.
Let the Spirit of God purify your motive. Your joy should be derived from the fact that by the Grace of God at work in you, you OBEYED God, irrespective of what anyone says.
Anytime I look at the weight and magnitude of sacrifices that go into my assignment from the Lord, I’m constantly reminded of Mama Oretha Hagin’s words, “THE PRICE IS NOT GREATER THAN GOD’S GRACE”.
Ask yourself dear friend; is there any assignment that God gave you to do in the past that you disobeyed and now somebody else is already doing something similar?
Of course God can give “similar assignments” to different people in the same generation but the emphasis here is on disobedience to a divine assignment. That’s the balance!
Is there any way you’re contributing to the burden and work of other ministers by your attitude in ministry?
You know; when people say what they’re not supposed to say and they cause confusion in the Body of Christ, they give some other ministers extra work to do.
Some other ministers will have to be straightening things out. They have to be doing works of repair. They have to begin to mend the broken walls.
Somebody says what he’s not supposed to say and then you see believers bombarding other MOGS with questions in that direction while the MOGS could simply focus on other things.
I told the Lord some years ago, “With Your Grace helping me, I will never take the work backward in my generation”.
The fathers have done their bit and some have laid down their sword. I will not take the work decades backward; I would rather build on that foundation by the Grace of God at work in me.
Know this for sure friend; there’s reward for every work done in the strength of God’s Grace. Don’t ever complain that the work is too much or too overwhelming for you.
Remember, THE PRICE IS NOT GREATER THAN GOD’S GRACE!
You will not lose your reward in Jesus’ Precious Name!
I hope this is a blessing Sirs and Mas?
