Way Maker, the song written by renowned award-winning gospel artist, Osinachi Joseph popularly known as Sinach has been nominated for Dove Awards 2020 in the United States of America.
The song was nominated for “Song of the Year”’, “Spanish Language Recorded Song of the Year (as recorded by Priscilla Bueno)”, and Worship Recorded Song of the Year (as recorded by Leeland). The Song of the Year category is usually the biggest accolade and it is awarded to a songwriter and the publisher every year.
The Dove Awards is one of the biggest gospel music awards in the world organised by the Gospel Music Association, USA. Way Maker’s nomination is arguably the first time ever a song written by a Nigerian gospel artist is making the top category.
Sinach joins a long list of international nominees at this year’s award including Hillsong Worship, Kirk Franklin, Jonathan McReynolds, Kanye West, Gloria Gaynor, Tasha Cobbs Leonard and more. The winners will be announced on TBN on October 30, and due to COVID-19 restrictions, in lieu of the annual live awards show, the show will consist of pre-recorded performances and acceptance speeches.
Way Maker was released in September 2015 and has since blessed lives and gained mass recognition to the extent of being covered by several gospel artists both locally and internationally
In Sinach’s words, “This nomination could only have come through the Spirit of God and not man”. As I have said before, this song was born from the Spirit and it is soaring on the wings of the Holy Ghost. It is a song for the now. I am grateful to everyone who has supported us, the churches, the ministers who have taken this song to the ends of the earth, and the many people it continues to be a blessing to.”
We celebrate with Sinach on this remarkable feat. We pray that God continually uses you to bless others.
